Artist Statement
My artwork is a collection of different approaches in the paint realm. My expertise is in oil and aerosol/spray paint which I use frequently in my bodies of work. Most of my work is considered to be "Lowbrow" portrait style consisting of exaggerated colors and subliminal symbolism. My conversations in regards to my work art typically wrapped around various hypocrisies in the world, whether it be found in politics, religion, current trends or other various lifestyles. My idea with my work is for the viewer to connect the dots with what symbols I use and the subtle choices of color and reasoning for why various aspects of my subject/character is contorted or bulged and or discolored or textured. Ultimately I have a reasoning why "l" choose these things but at the same time, the viewer's take away can be completely different and that--as the artist--is the take away.
